FASHION WEEK! Hardly middle of the road.

So for all you avid readers of my blog (and I know there are many: thanks Mom and Dad!), it will come as no surprise that most of my sparetime last week was spent reading reviews and watching clips of the occurrences upon various runway in New York, London, and Paris. That's right! Designers released their much-awaited spring lines during Fashion Week 2010, and, in case you weren't glued to Vogue.com, I'll give you the highlights, in all their bicycle-related glory.

1. Faux Fur - You're going to start seeing faux fur all over, and don't be shy about wearing a big collar or hood on your morning commute. You may notice, though, that it tends to get a little sticky on longer, sweaty rides, so I wouldn't recommend it for touring necessarily.

2. The Layered Look - Skirts over slacks, sweaters over collared shirts, all of this bodes well for the cyclist, who knows that, above all, you don't want cotton as your bottom layer.

3. Lycra - As the '80s continue to experience their moment(s) in the fashion spotlight, Lycra stocks have risen sharply, which is old hat to cyclists. But good news, the arm warmers and other spandex gear we've come to rely upon is now available in an incredible array of colors and styles. Remember, the road is your runway. Strut (or pedal) your stuff!
